Flash-Based WiiWare Games on the Horizon?

That’s the buzz on the wire this morning following a possible leak by an over-enthusiastic developer.
Tyrone Rodriguez, who blogs for Nicalis, an independant WiiWare developer, has claimed that at a secret developer summit with Nintendo last week, they were told that WiiWare games can now be flash-based. His original blog was removed afterwards, and it is believed that Nintendo intend to announce the big news themselves at the Game Developers Conference next week.
This will of course open the gates to all the web game developers currently using flash to create some of the best games on the internet, and can only be good news for WiiWare enthusiasts.

Flash-Based WiiWare Games to become a Reality
If it’s true then it will indeed open the flood gates, Flash being platform independent and all.
I would have thought we’d have heard something from Adobe though, I thought they would have to be involved to port Flash over?
It’s probably early days. Be interesting to see what occurs at next week’s conference.
There’s a decent amount of negative backlash about this increasing the level of rubbish on the service, but frankly anything that makes it easier to develop for WiiWare and brings in more publishers is a good thing as far as I’m concerned. It’s not like the rules on who gets to publish on WiiWare are changing as well!
