Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (Wii) - due out February 27th!
One could argue that with the release of Sega’s House of the Dead: Overkill yesterday, we don’t need any more zombie shooters for a while. But what the heck! Capcom are bringing us a port of the popular Xbox 360 game Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop in two weeks time, and it looks wonderful! The game follows our protagonist, Frank West, a freelance photographer, as he arrives in Willamette hoping for the scoop of a lifetime after hearing about riots there. But of course, he finds more than he bargained for as he realises the rioters are actually zombies. Our hero then barricades himself into the shopping mall, and that’s when the fun begins!
Chop Till You Drop works perfectly for the Wii’s motion controls, allowing you to shoot, slash, swipe and shake yourself free in a constant killing spree. You can run around the Mall, utilising anything from the vast range of stores that you’ll find there. Some makeshift weapons will prove more successful than others, but you’ll never fall short of something to grab in an emergency, even toy swords and footballs!
What the Wii lacks in graphics, it definitely makes up for in controls - this promises to do very well, although I think there’s room for both games on anyone’s shelf. Why choose between Sega or Capcom when you could save up and have both? I know I want to!
