Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (Wii & DS) - due out March 20th!
Ubisoft have long been delivering Broken Sword games to the PC and other consoles. However, they have now embraced the unique motion control system used by the Wii and DS to give us a new and exclusive Director’s Cut of Shadow of the Templars, originally released back in 1996, and re-released on GBA in 2002. The Director’s Cut includes a brand new narrative, that links the game better to its sequel - suggesting there will be more to follow.
Also there are new animated facial expressions drawn by Dave Gibbons, who illustrated the classic Graphic Novel “Watchmen” amongst other things!
Plus of course, there will be a whole selection of new puzzles designed to utilise the control system of the Wii and DS, making this a very interesting release indeed.
You play as American tourist George Stobbard, and find yourself at the scene of a murder of one of France’s elite, and have to investigate the tragedy. It’s a basic point and click mystery/puzzler, and should ride nicely on the success of Professor Layton. Even if you completed the original game in 1996, there is apparently more than enough new content, which incidentally is woven seamlessly into the original game, to make you want to play it all over again!
This game would never have been brought to us again if it weren’t for a decade-long petiton from it’s fans to see it revamped and released in a more modern form. Judging by what I have seen so far, I don’t think they’ll be disappointed, and I suggest that you maybe take the time to look this one up and see just what all the fuss is about!
Never really gotten into the Broken Sword games, maybe this one will change my mind?
Is it just me, or does that old lady look an awful lot like Aunt May from Spider-man?
Hey, yeah - that’s an uncanny resemblance! I haven’t played any of these games before, but after thoroughly enjoying Professor Layton, I fancy a go at this. Though I’ll probably go for the DS version personally, as I spend far more time on it than the Wii.
Seen this on game website. loved the original on the psone so looking forward to this title extra content and graphics updated should make for good buy.
OH MY GOD YES!!!!
Sorry but this has to be my favourite series of games ever! With the allure to further releases, this is going to be a must buy for me.
Wii or DS will depend on the reviews, though like Sue i’m edging toward DS.
Scary thing is though - I had no idea these were even in the making, let alone due for release in 10 days!
Well, that totally makes it worth my while previewing it for you, then, Rog! Yes, a satisfied customer!
